About Writing your Life Story
You’ve been telling stories your entire life. There were family stories about Aunt Kate and Cousin James. There were humorous stories about incidents at work and embarrassing moments. Then there were stories about interesting places you visited, interesting things you did and all of the things you accomplished. And there were stories about hard times, stories about how you coped, then survived, and then thrived. Guided Autobiography enables you to remember and write these important stories.
Writing your Life Story through Guided Autobiography and a Master List of Essential Stories:
You write one of these stories in just two pages focusing on one Guided Autobiography theme at a time.
You cover the most significant aspects of your life by writing themes such as Turning Points, Family, and Work.
You create a Master List of Essential Stories that helps you know where to begin your life story project and what to write next.
You study the elements of the writing craft that engage readers and yield meaningful stories about where you've been, what you've done and what you learned in the process.
You work with me one-to-one which enables me to tailor the life story writing project to your specific needs.
You can choose to participate in an online Reading Club to share your stories with a small group of six to eight people.
Benefits of Guided Autobiography
Guided Autobiography was developed by Gerontologist James Birren, Ph.D. at the University of Southern California. Today his work continues through the Birren Center for Autobiographical Studies which trains instructors worldwide. Research indicates indicates that Guided Autobiography group members gain deeper understanding of themselves and the meaning of their life journey.
